Premier League Predictions: Match Day 17

Right here we are again friends with another batch of exciting Premier League fixtures. Only Arsenal slipped up out of all the top clubs while Chelsea moved a commanding 6 points clear during the midweek games. Before we go on a follow on Twitter @cameroneyles be very much appreciated. Also check out the brand new Football Manager series I’ve started at which hopefully you’ll enjoy.

Crystal Palace v Chelsea

We all have heard endlessly about how poor Crystal Palace have been this calendar year and for Chelsea anything other than three points will be a bitter disappointment. The blues will be looking to extend their lead at the top and get an 11th straight victory which should be no problem for them.

Prediction: 0-2

Middlesbrough v Swansea City

This is a big game down at the bottom of the table. Both teams were outclassed by their opponents in midweek but something has got to give in this match. I have to back my own team and hopefully Boro will capitalise on their home advantage.

Prediction: 1-0

Stoke City v Leicester City

Stoke had a rather dull draw midweek and I wouldn’t be surprised to see something similar here. Leicester may have turned their home form around but away from home they really need to get their act together. I will back them to get something out of this game.

Prediction: 1-1

Sunderland v Watford

Another match that on paper does not look like a thriller. Sunderland apparently have no cash at all and won’t be able to strength in January which is a worry for them. Watford should have enough to get a point out of this one though.

Prediction: 0-0

West Ham United v Hull City

West Ham look as though they might have turned a corner although regardless if that’s happened or not they’ve got to be beating Hull at home and I fancy them to do just that.

Prediction: 2-0

West Bromwich Albion v Manchester United

I didn’t think I’d be saying this at the start of the season but this match is 6th vs 7th. United have ever so slowly been improving this season while West Brom have been loving life. Rondon scored a hat trick of headers on Wednesday, becoming the second player to do so in Premier League history. I actually foresee a draw here and that’s a testament as to how well the Baggies are playing.

Prediction: 1-1
Bournemouth v Southampton

It’s a south coast derby, although I am reliably informed it’s not the south coast derby. Regardless both teams have had pretty similar seasons and look to be in no danger of relegation at all. Purely because their at home I’ll give the Cherries the edge, plus who doesn’t like Eddie Howe?

Prediction: 2-1

Manchester City v Arsenal

This next game is certainly one of the stand out fixtures this weekend. City bounced back from their embarrassment at Leicester with a win, but their defence still needs a lot of work. Arsenal were out fought by Everton last time out so it’s tough to call. I’ll go for a high scoring draw.

Prediction: 2-2
Tottenham Hotspur v Burnley

Spurs are starting to get back in the winning groove and they shouldn’t have too much trouble getting past Burnley who while are great at home are utterly abysmal on the road. Easy win for Spurs.

Prediction: 3-0
Everton v Liverpool

Another big night ‘under the lights’ (which is a overused phrase) on Merseyside. I just have this feeling that this game will be an absolute barn burner filled with goals probably red cards and all around craziness. Having said that it’ll probably finish 0-0 but I’m going to go for Liverpool in a thriller.

Prediction: 2-3
Right that’s all for this week and please follow the blog and leave a comment. Next week is the Predictions Christmas special so stick around for that.
